Liner Notes:
“Homosexuals, sodomites, or any other name you chose to call them by, are not gay (which means happy), talented, special, or even gifted. What homosexuals and homosexuality are is an evil abomination in the eyes of God, a blemish on the face of God’s creation. The time has come to make a choice. Are you on the side of those who are committing an abomination in the eyes of God or are you on God’s side, the side of truth and righteousness?”

From the website The Institute for Christian Works.

Every time I hear or read things like the above quote, I wish my dick got hard looking at another man. Sadly, I’m hopelessly heterosexual, but if a sexual orientation as old as time can elicit such venom from the morally reprehensible as homosexuality does, I think maybe I should start fornicating with men just out of principle. I mean if the Institute for Christian Works thinks its wrong, obviously there must be something right about it. Homosexuality pisses off all the right people. Lord knows I’ve tried to get my penis to stand at attention considering another man’s hairy ass, but to no avail. It just lays there flaccid looking stupid. I could forsake my natural inclinations and take the plunge, but I’d be lying. Try as I might I cannot change who I am. I have to accept the fact that my sexuality is condoned, endorsed and championed by idiots.

You have to wonder why anybody cares who you fuck. Personally, the only sexuality that holds my interest is my own. I simply do not care who you screw. To me anybody who does care what two or more consenting adults choose to do in the privacy of his or her homes is obviously not getting laid and is jealous of those that are.

The most common justification for denouncing homosexuality is that it offends people’s imaginary friends. During the last couple of weeks, Iraqi militias have deployed an unprecedented new form of torture against homosexuals, which involves inserting a particularly strong adhesive into the anus (of the victim) and sealing it completely. After sealing the victims’ anus, they are then given a drink that induces diarrhea. As you might well imagine, this usually leads to a particularly gruesome death for the victim. In an interview for the Iraqi based English newspaper, The National, a man who claims to be involved in the actual killings referred to as Abu Muslim offered this line of reasoning behind the murders of homosexuals. “The truth is that the homosexual brings shame on them so how can God be angry with them for killing the homosexual? On the contrary, in killing the homosexual they are carrying out God’s will.”

While their American counterparts in the imaginary friend war on homosexuality may not resort to acts of such unbridled physical barbarity, they share a similarly perplexing obsession with demonizing gay behavior. The main difference here is that they are losing. 5 states have now officially recognized gay marriage and the culture wars that strived to legitimize legalized homophobia is loosing ground to the larger issue of equal rights for all American citizens. “I have come to believe that this is a question of fairness and of equal protection under the law, and that a civil union is not equal to civil marriage,” Maine Gov. John Baldacci said in a statement released after he signed his state’s same-sex marriage bill, “Just as the Maine Constitution demands that all people are treated equally under the law, it also guarantees that the ultimate political power in the state belongs to the people.”

Still, progress is made by a maddening measure of degrees. Lt. Dan Choi, a platoon leader in the National Guard, a West Point graduate and a fluent speaker in Arabic languages was recently dismissed from active duty under the military’s, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. Two 11-year old boys in the last two months committed suicide after being relentlessly bullied by tormenters who deemed them to be faggots. Public figures such as Joseph Wurzelbacher (AKA Joe The Plumber), North Carolina Senator Virginia Foxx and Ms. California Carrie Prejean have made statements that belittle and ridicule equal rights for homosexuals. Everyday brings more troubling evidence that despite advances in the public’s attitudes toward homosexuality there still is a long way to go.

The set list for this week’s show is posted here. All previous show set lists (54 as of this writing) are on my blog.
