The Performance Arts Center needs to realize that their future is linked to the continued health & success of First Fridays. Of coarse, Richmond has a long and sorted history of fucking itself, but this is the first time that both the above & below ground have a vested interested in seeing both succeed. You pointed how first fridays has revitalized downtown thru the free enterprise of the citizens, compared to the 6th street market place and main st. station flops which were basically govt. sponsered enterprises. I couldnt agree more on the superiority of free market capitalism vs. socialist govt. intervention. Dont you think its pathetic in light of this how the Richmond city govt. has ratched up its burreaucrtic pressure on the owners of the galleries and stores at first fridays which acts as a detriment of the success of first fridays.
