My husband is very loyal to Nature's Own 100% Whole Wheat bread. The best sale prices I ever see are $1.89 a loaf, and it's $3 full-price at Kroger. Guess how much the same loaf costs at the Dollar Tree?

That's right, a buck (you all are so smart). And usually, the "sell by" dates are a week away.

The caveat, of course, is that availability varies. Some stores never have bread, and the ones that do carry it don't always have the same kinds. It's worth it to me to pick up a couple loaves when I find them and freeze extras.

Most Dollar Trees offer a large selection of grocery items, including dairy and frozen foods. Some of the products are generic or knock-off brands, while others are name brands in small-sized packages. Still others are discontinued varieties, etc. For a measly $1 investment, many of them are worth trying!
