Ukrop’s is tweaking its gasoline-discounting fuelperks! program, effective Monday 11/1:
1. Shoppers will now save 5 cents per gallon for every $50 they spend in a single transaction.
2. fuelperks! rewards will expire at the end of the month after the month in which they are earned. For example, fuelperks! earned during November will expire at the end of December (12/31/09).
[Emphasis added]
To soften the blow, it’s adding fuelperks! bonus! rewards. Every week, certain products will be designated “fuelperks! bonus! rewards items.” For every participating item you buy, you’ll automatically receive a 5-cent fuelperks reward. This week’s items are chocolate fudge pie ($4.99), Lay’s potato chips ($2.49), and 4-lb bags of Food Club sugar ($2.29).

The “$5 off 10 participating items” Mega Sale continues at Kroger this week. I’m using the abbreviation “wyb 10″ to refer to those items, and the price listed is after extra savings.
Meat Top Pick
$1.79/lb Tyson boneless, skinless chicken breasts at Kroger
Veggie Top Pick
I’m in the mood for stew. Maybe because the rain brought a carpet of leaves to our lawn. Maybe because the stores are covered in snowflakes. Maybe because 3-lb bags of yellow onions and 2-lb bags of carrots are $.99 at Kroger this week. Whatever the reason, I think I’ll try my hand at making a stew this week.
Fruit Top Pick
Kiwi fruit $.33 each at Ukrop’s
Dairy Top Pick
Several kinds of Dannon and Yoplait yogurt multipacks are $1.49 at Kroger (wyb 10), including Activia, Light N Fit, Danimals, Yoplait Kids, and Original Yoplait. Most also have manufacturer’s coupons from recent weeks inserts, as well as some printables from Coupons.com and e-coupons from Shortcuts.com.
Staples Top Pick
Carnation condensed milk cans $.49 at Kroger (wyb 10). Use coupon from Sunday’s paper for $.50 off 2 cans, which doubles to $1 and makes for free condensed milk.
Snacks & Sweets Top Pick
Chex Mix bags are $1.49 at Kroger (wyb 10). Print a coupon for $.50 off from Coupons.com and/or load $.50 e-coupons from Cellfire and Shortcuts.
Beverages Top Pick
16-oz Snapple beverages $.50 each at Ukrop’s
Household Top Pick
Halls cough drops $.50 a bag at Kroger (wyb 10). If you happen to have the $.35 coupon from 9-27 SmartSource insert, you can get them for cheaper than free!

The onions at the Kroger I went to looked terrible. Fine if you’re going to use them all on the day you buy them, but what would you possibly cook? French onion soup?

Jenn – You could always chop the onions and then throw them in the freezer for later use.
