This week's tip is to browse the seasonal section of the grocery store for summer clearance items. Kiddie pools, water toys, grill accessories, outdoor tableware, and patio furniture should all be discounted 50% or more, so September is the time to stock up for next year!

And with Monday being Labor Day, expect to see even better sales starting this Friday to kick off the holiday weekend. I'll be back then to add a list of the highlights.

Meat Top Pick

Two grilling possibilities: New York Strip steaks at Ukrop's for $6.98/lb, or 18oz packages of Kroger grilling sausage links or bratwurst for $1.99 each.

Veggie Top Pick

For a buck, you can get fresh broccoli from Kroger (The plastic-wrapped kind that comes with 3 mini crowns).

Fruit Top Pick

Ukrop's has peaches on sale for $.98/lb.

Dairy Top Pick

With coupons printed from Ukrop's Savings Spot kiosk in-store, get $1 Kraft American singles (must buy 2, limit 2) and $1 Kraft shredded or chunk cheese (must buy 2, limit 2).

Staples Top Pick

To add some kick to your cookout, Kroger is offering $1 Cattleman's or Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, and $1 Weber grilling spices.

Snacks & Sweets Top Pick

Receive a free gallon of milk when you buy any 3 of the following items at Kroger: Keebler Chips Deluxe cookies ($2), Keebler Sandies cookies ($2), select Kellogg's cereal ($3), and Fiber Plus or Special K bars ($2). Limit is 2 free gallons per transaction. I found "peelie" coupons on the Special K bars boxes for $2 off two, so was able to get six boxes plus two gallons of milk for $6!

Beverage Top Pick

At Ukrop's this week, Coke 12-can fridgepacks are only $2.20.

Household Top Pick

Bounty single-roll paper towels are $1 at Kroger. Use a $.25 coupon (doubled) from last Sunday's paper, and load a $.25 e-coupon from P&GeSaver.
