New dessert digs for a local staple, oysters galore, a new city Heritage

Lovers of oysters will soon be able to indulge in the delicacy, a new dessert spot will bring sweet joy to your taste buds, and a local coffee shop will get not one, but TWO patios.

Back in June, we were beyond excited to find out that the guys behind Rappahannock River Oysters and the Merrior Tasting Room would be bringing a restaurant to Richmond in the old Louisiana Flair space. We had the great pleasure to visit them in Topping, VA last week and got the news that they have finally decided on a name: Rappahannock. They were hoping for a September opening, but a few hiccups have pushed the opening date back to October.

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying a dessert at one of Kendra Feather’s restaurants (Ipanema, Garnett’s, and The Roosevelt) then we’ve got good news for you! David Rohrer, the talented baker behind those delicious treats, and Feather will be taking over the old House of Homemades at 2707 East Marshall Street in Church Hill to open a brick and mortar for WPA Bakery. They will continue the existing wholesale business and will hopefully transition into more of a retail space in two to three months offering snacks, sweets, and coffee.

According to West of the Boulevard News, Black Hand Coffee is hoping for an early October opening for its new space at the corner of Belmont and Patterson. The move is only about 100 feet, but will give the coffee shop a lot more space–and the opportunity for TWO patios!

Apparently Buddy’s Place is now lime green? Check out this picture from Fan of the Fan. Hopefully they won’t start serving fro-yo…
