“You are the music while the music lasts…” –T. S. Eliot

Liner Notes: And it does makes me wonder. I wonder about a lot of things.

I wonder about the tragic amount of disconnect it must require to believe anything that Glen Beck & his piss yellow journalism brethren spew on a daily basis. A guy I have known for years basically parrots everything the former alcoholic has to say about politics and thinks that it makes him sound informed. Sadly, that is not the case. It just makes him sound real, real stupid. I’m all for voicing dissenting opinions, but when your only source for political discussions begins and ends with the chicken little’s eternally screaming the sky is falling on right wing talk radio, your arguments are laughable.

And always remember, I’m laughing at you.

I wonder why anyone cares that Michael Phelps likes to do bong hits in his spare time. Given his 14 goal medals, it seems that his intake of marijuana hasn’t adversely effected his athletic career.

I wonder how anyone can listen to corporate radio. Recently, I tuned into Y101 a couple of times last week and every time I picked up their signal they were playing Nirvana. Nirvana is new rock? I don’t think so. For a station that claims to be, “Richmond’s home for new rock”, they certainly seem to play nothing but the oldies.

I wonder how anyone could possibly want to hear, “Stairway to Heaven” ever again unless it is a version (like the one by Leonard Teale that opens this show) that openly mocks the songs very existence. I know that this may come as a shock to some you, but Led Zeppelin has to be one of the most, if not the single most overrated band in music history.

I wonder why actors are allowed to be such pompous assholes Last week, a recording of actor Christian Bale’s expletive filled rant against an annoying DP on the set of his new film, Terminator Salvation surfaced on the web. I’ve been told by several of my friends in the movie business that Mr. Bale is a stand up guy and not one prone to Hollywood excesses, but listening to the pampered star lose his mind over a flubbed take, you can’t help but to think that Batman is a dick. I used his rant throughout this week’s show which makes listening to this podcast a serious no-no if children are within ear shot or you work someplace that frowns on colorful language.

The set list for this week’s show is posted here. All previous show set lists are on my blog.

Every Monday morning I grab a cup of coffee, sit down at my desk, and turn on the Bopst Show. Thanks Chris and RVAnews for starting my week off right.

  2. I once married a disc jockey. Because of that, the song “Stairway to Heaven” is forever linked in my mind with desperately needing to use the bathroom. (Because of the length of the song, that’s what would get thrown on when they were badly in need of extra time in the john.)

I don’t know whether to feel sad for myself, or happy for you, when I realize that the very first thing I think on Monday mornings is “YAY! New Bopst Show!” I think I’ll just feel happy for us all. I’m off to listen to your latest now…

  3. No, thank you because without you it is all for not. Thanks for listening…

  4. Thank you Ms. Crazy Cat Lady. That version of, “Stairway to Heaven” is about the only one I can listen to. The Zep version makes me angry. Heard it way too much by the time I was 12.

Also, I love that video you posted for, “Li’l Red Riding Hood”. The version by 999 ain’t too shabby neither…

Ahhhh, 9353, they were so good; I have great memories of them playing at one of my high school dances.

I’m happy I have my own office at work now, so I can turn your show up now at the volume it deserves to be listened to. Thanks for the great show.

i love how liberals think they are so powerful that by just laughing at you they destroy your arguments, you would have made a great lawyer bopst, all you would have to do is laugh and yuod win your case, but your just lilk Dj boy, lol. In passing i saw glen beck cry on TV the other day, it was hilhairyass, at least hes smart about business and free markets, unlike low-IQ liberal commies. I lol in your ugly face lol

michael phelps proves bong hits are healthy

  8. Wait wait, Nirvana is now oldies? When did that happen!?

  9. It happens when you get older. It’s been almost 15 years since Cobain blew his brains out and 18 since, “Nevermind” was released. My yardstick for classic rock is that if the release is old enough to legally date, it is oldies music.
