A ton of photos, some sports, some transit stuff, and some alarming murder stats.

It was a photogenic day in RVA.

Let’s talk about basketball, fans

Aaron Williams breaks it down–the opening game for the Rams vs. Prairie View A&M, that is. He also gives some suggestions for who else to keep an eye on if the Rams–who play multiple times most weeks, guys–don’t satisfy your college basketball itch. You should really have that itch looked at!

Let’s look at some basketball fans

VCU’s homecoming was last week, and some of us in the office learned that colleges even have homecoming kings and queens! Who knew? Apparently many people! Heaton Johnson took some photos for us of the sweet hangs before the big game.

Let’s look at Matt White!

More pics, because we love pics. Matthew E. White played in his hometown, and Heaton took gorgeous shots of him in action, plus his band members. They’re also in action. For more about Matthew E. White, check out Susan Howson’s audio interview.

Let’s look at RVA’s sobering murder statistics

Today, Richmond police reported the city’s 31st murder of 2015. Ross dutifully added it to our ongoing list and updated the associated charts and graphs. At the current rate, Richmond is on pace for slightly more than 35 murders on the year–which would be the fewest sincet at least 1992.

Let’s get back down to business

Nicholas Smith, new Community Outreach Director for RVA Rapid Transit and the Partnership for Smarter Growth, is here to tell you some fascinating things in a very accessible way. Fascinating and accessible! Just like our public transit will hopefully be one day!
