Food News: doughnuts as big as your head, booze in Manchester, and get ready to Dash

A typical week in RVA food news: doughnuts, booze, and beer.

You know what’s better than a doughnut? Two doughnuts. You know what’s better than two doughnuts? A single doughnut that’s several times larger than your head (maybe even larger than your torso, depending on your current torso size). Sugar Shack’s latest promotion involves you taking “doughnut selfies” and tagging them with #sugarshackdonuts. If you win, will you share with the RVANews office?

Belle Isle Craft Spirits makes moonshine. What more do you need to know? How about this: they’re moving their distillery to 625 Maury Street in Manchester.

This week brings us a couple of quick updates on the status of Ardent Ales. The tl;dr: they’re shooting for a late May opening date. This spot has been a long time coming, and I’m seriously stoked (and thirsty) for May / June.

Starting yesterday, My Noodle kicked off Noodle Lab Wednesdays. $10.50 ($14.50 for seafood dishes) gets you a dish that’s basically dealer’s/chef’s choice. The best part is after you gnosh then you can give feedback to the chef! It’s like Top Chef with none of the crying (but you’re still not there to make friends).

Beer + yoga + foodtrucks + Ed Trask mural reveal = typical Wednesday at Hardywood.

Today, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, you can buy local farmers’ markety-type stuff at Anthropologie in the Stony Point Fashion Park during their pop-up market. See, it’s not all doom and gloom over there.

New details on what was once Cous-Cous, then The Well, and now…dun dun dun…Dash! Richmond.com spills the beans on the new spot by the owners of Toast and Estilo. Dash will offer a menu inspired by Toast, but fast–like, wrapped and ready to go fast. Students: get stoked!
