Fanhouse on hiatus, Sprout leaves in style, Jake Crocker adds another business, and more restaurant news

According to the Fanhouse’s website they are closed for vacation with an undefined reopening date. Does this mean that Sunny Zhao has finally given up the constant battle with Fan area neighbors regarding noise control? Is he throwing in the towel on the Robinson and Floyd corner after being forced to remove his lower level bar? Check back for more details.

Sprout, the Fan restaurant that dedicated itself to serving 90% locally-sourced food from area farmers and producers, sadly closed its doors on September 3rd. Richmonders definitely showed their love and support for Laurie Lay and her team on Sunday night by sending the restaurant off with a bang.

After six years as a Richmond BBQ staple, Grandpa Eddie’s closed its doors. Owner Carey Friedman said the reason for shutting down was for “circumstances well beyond” their control. They hope to be back soon to serve up more delicious eats. In the meantime, leave them a little love note on their blog HERE.

According to Richmond Bizsense, Rocketts Landing is looking to double its restaurant space. The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing, Conch Republic, and newbie to the Rocketts family M Bistro and Wine Bar are all reportedly doing very well and there is interest in adding more riverfront options--three to be exact. Robert Hensley, vice president of the WVS Companies says he has letters of intent, but no tenants at the moment. We’ll keep you posted on any new developments.

Bizsense also reported earlier this week that Jake Crocker and his FWS partners will open their third restaurant on the corner of Main and Stafford, Uptown Market and Deli. The 24 hour joint will serve up grab and go sandwiches, wine, beer, and coffee. Crocker also owns F.W. Sullivan’s Bar and Grille and Lady N’awlins Cajun Cafe at the same intersection. Sounds like Uptown Market and Deli will be the perfect late night stop after closing time. The real questions is when does Jake Crocker sleep?
