Cupcakes return to Carytown, Metro Grill reopens with a great new space, and Amour Wine Bistro has a birthday in style

Two spots in Carytown have reason to celebrate and a Fan restaurant looks better than ever.

Carytown Cupcakes will open its new store front this Saturday at 3111 W. Cary Street, right across from Can Can. Not only will they gain some visibility in Carytown, but the shop’s visitors can see those little cake delights made and decorated through a cool new viewing window. They will also expand their menu to include 13-18 daily flavors that will include at least two vegan and two gluten-free options. They have plans to add a full service coffee bar that will offer espressos, lattes, and cappuccinos. Carytown Cupcakes will be open 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Monday – Friday and 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

According to Richmond.com, EAT Restaurant Partners may buy the Stronghill Dining Company. Jessica Simmons, who also owns River City Tattoo, put both the business and the building up for sale in April. Now it looks likes the folks behind Blue Goat, Osaka, and Wild Ginger are trying to snatch up the Boulevard space by the end of June.

Local beers. Everyone loves ‘em! According to Richmond Magazine, a local cidery is moving to town. Courtney Mailey signed a lease in April for the building next door to Legend Brewing Co. in Manchester. By this fall, Blue Bee is set to be a full fledged urban cidery complete with tasting room. If all stays on schedule, customers can enjoy fresh apple juice with no preservatives in September and then the fermented product by late winter or early spring of 2013.
