Buz and Ned’s goes West End, Dixie chicken heads to Hills & Heights, and Proper Pie gets a proper spot in Church Hill

In case you haven’t heard, Carytown is getting a taste of Nate’s tacos, Buzz and Ned’s makes plans to open a West End location next week, and a Korean BBQ Latin fusion restaurant is headed our way. All this, plus more, in our weekly recap of food news!

Last Friday we brought you some awesome news concerning Nate Gutierrez of the beloved Nate’s Taco Truck and everyone lost their minds. Don’t Look Back is currently open for lunch at 2229 West Cary St. across from New York Deli. As soon as their ABC license is approved, they will also be open for dinner and will add craft beers and margaritas to the menu.

Speaking of new restaurants, Buz and Ned’s will be opening their much anticipated West End location on Wednesday, April 4th. After two years of delays, the new location will be at 8205 West Broad Street at the corner of Parham and Broad. Does a second location mean Bobby Flay is coming back for a Throwdown Part Deux?

According to Hills and Heights, there will soon be a new southern fare restaurant in the neighborhood. The Dixie Chicken will be located at 1203 Westover Hills Boulevard and will offer up southern, made from scratch takeout. Chef Todd Brady is the man behind the restaurant. He’s been a chef for over 20 years alongside some familiar Richmond staples, such as the Giavos family restaurants and Zeus Gallery.

According to Church Hill People’s News, Proper Pie Co. will have a brick and mortar location at 25th and Broad in the former It Must Be Heaven space in Church Hill. They plan to have eight to ten seasonal pies with vegetarian and vegan options available. Homemade sodas and milkshakes will also be available for your drinking pleasure. We profiled one of the very interesting owners back in December, and it’s worth checking out this unique business.

Twitter has recently been buzzing about @GingkoRVA, a Korean BBQ Latin Fusion restaurant coming to Richmond and headed up by a lovely lady named Cassie. We were able to taste a few bites of her highly praised kimchi a few weeks back and were blown away. She is planning a kimchi and beer dinner in June, but a definite date has not been set. RVA, pay attention to this girl: she’s got big things coming.

Happy Hour alert! Six Burner is now offering half off glasses of wine on Tuesdays. Cheers!
