Whatever you do, don’t confuse these events up. Otherwise you’ll be bringing muppets covered in Greek food to the ballet.

1. RVA2NY Drive

Hurricane Sandy! What’s to joke about? Unless your name is Sandy and you’re pretty scattered and people tend to call you “Hurricane Sandy” and also one time you flooded New York. Anyway, The Martin Agency has created a supply drive for Sandy victims. Check out their list of needed things, root through the supplies you bought for Sandy, or just go buy some non-perishables and diapers at Kroger. Basically, you bring stuff to a truck. I think you can handle it.

2. Mini Greek Festival

This is a public service announcement: the founders of the wildly popular Greek Festival every spring put on a Mini Greek Festival in the fall. Bring your wallet and your appetite, because you are going to want to eat every piece of spanakopita and every plate of dolmades. The wine you probably won’t care for, but the piles of food? Yes yes yes. Keep the tradition alive and go support this very patient, very forgiving church. And support them while you have rosewater custard hanging out your mouth as you shout “I LOVE GREECE.”

3. Richmond Ballet Studio 2: A Rose for Miss Emily

We’re concerned that you’re going to miss Cecile Tuzii in her farewell season. As Emily of the Faulkner story on which the ballet is based, Cecile staggers around and looks generally crazy. But turns out, she’s super nice and a gorgeously fluid dancer. See for yourself this weekend at the Richmond Ballet’s studio theater, and read more about it in the interview we did earlier this week.

4. Avenue Q presented by Theatre VCU

I had to reread this over and over. Avenue flippin’ Q. At VCU! This heavy yet lighthearted comedy has some puppetry, some satire, and some healthy New York bashing. (I don’t actually know about that last part). Let VCU’s thespians stretch their wings..inside muppets. Go forth and learn, children of VCU! The noble art of puppetry lives on.

5. Anthem Richmond Marathon

If you’re excited about the marathon you’re about to run this Saturday morning...there’s something drastically up with your brain. But, maybe not. Runners are a strange breed of determined masochists who enjoy fabulous bodies and being one with all of the elements (even the worst ones). A marathon puts them to the test by clearing out a substantial path in the city’s more populated areas. Of course, it puts us to the test too--smirking and clutching a mug of hot coffee.
