The cars were either unlocked or the windows rolled down. Lock up your car folks.

Police have stated that they’ve recently charged a pair of 14 year olds in 47 car break-ins in Carver and other Downtown neighborhoods.

In every single case, the car was either left unlocked or the windows were rolled down.

After the two 14-year-old males were identified as possible suspects, Fourth Precinct Detective Mark Godwin interviewed them, recovered several stolen items and determined that they had broken into 47 vehicles in the past 90 days.

Overall, the juveniles were charged with 36 felonies and 11 misdemeanors. Specifically, one juvenile was charged with 28 felonies and 9 misdemeanors while the other one was charged with eight felonies and two misdemeanors.

The Richmond Police Department would like to thank this detective for his hard work and remind the public to please, lock your vehicles and do not leave any items in plain view.
