Style Weekly dines at Rock Bottom Brewery

Martin: “Think Chuck E. Cheese with glorious high ceilings and projector screens.”

Style Weekly’s Robey Martin reviewed Rock Bottom Brewery, the new restaurant and brewery that took over part of the Short Pump Town Center food court earlier this year, for the latest edition of Richmond’s alt weekly.

Martin seemed unimpressed with much of the small chain’s food and atmosphere, as she sums up fairly quickly right off the bat:

Crazy busy on a Wednesday night, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery is loud, loud like a fraternity party. The bar is two-deep with professionals and couples. Tables are packed with families. Everyone is yelling. What seems like a thousand waiters and waitresses wield trays of tasting glasses filled with a rainbow of beer that they’re trying to keep from landing on unsuspecting patrons. Think Chuck E. Cheese with glorious high ceilings and projector screens.

She did, however, seem to fancy the craft beer–especially Rock Bottom’s nitro porter, the Black Pearl Stout–and found a few other gems on the menu.
