Actually, if Jack wants to take the phrase 'practice holes' world wide he needs to get Dan Savage, of Savage Love, on board. Dan took his outrage at Senator Santorum's homophobia and turned it into a sexual description that is both disturbing and now a recognized word by many dictionaries as well as being the primary return on the ex-senator....

The best way for a phrase such as "practice holes" to catch on is to have a rapper mention it in one of their, umm, raps. This also holds true for the popularity of any type of Vodka or Tequila.

RVA news should try contacting Lil Wayne, or possibly this T-Pain(?) character I keep hearing about.

Good day.

On cheesiness:

Susan seems to have it right with that last statement. "You either have it or you don't." Lots of couples fall victim to this. Some mask it by hanging out with friends, working long hours, or even having children.

There's really no solution to it other than anal. Lots and lots of anal.

Somewhat similar to Ross, minus the lesbian and being dumped for someone else, I recently left a 5 year relationship. The relationship followed the same trajectory as most, passionate love for two years, pleateau for 2 more, and the pits of hell for the last. We broke up; she moved on, and so did I. I began dating another girl, the epitome of perfection for a guy like me, but after a 3 month span of euphoria and even some "I love yous" I lost that lovin' feelin'.

My point reiterates Jack's; rushing into something, regardless of how good it feels, is not the best medicine. You have to watch out for the fact that this new girl is possibly filling the void left vacant by your ex. That void has to be filled by your own "inner game." Get right with yourself and God if you must, and shore up some of your own insecurities. Spend time by yourself without entertainment or phones in order to force yourself to cope with lonliness. Use the girl to build up your self-confidence if you must, but don't fall victim to false love. It will benefit you and your new girl in the long run.

Ha! Beautiful piano player hands. That's like how my mom says people have "bedroom eyes."

Also, two more things:
1. The fact that the sender of the first question is being referred to Ross is confusing me.
2. Getting married in your twenties is teh awesome.

This is the first Robot Hearts column where the advice was somewhat decent. On the other hand, the question was like hanging a curve ball out there. Anyone could've knocked it out of the park.

Entertaining nevertheless.

does one even need talent to be a paleontologist?

Keep the good articles coming; I love reading them. And I knew reading Ross G's message that Jack was going to use end up using the phrase "practice holes."

Ross -- The infatuations of the sensual and frivolous part of mankind are amazing; but the infatuations of the learned and sophistical are incomparably more so. --I. Taylor.

Mainly, I just like to throw around the word sophistical whenever possible. Nevertheless there is a broad disparity within the realm of infatuation. Constantly thinking of and enjoying their company isn’t necessarily a harbinger of a solid relationship. I think if you’re worried about liking someone to the point of boredom, it’s a signifier that you should spend a little more time playing the field. Enjoy yourself. Is she synonymous with that? If so then stay true to your feelings, just know there doesn’t always have to be an end in sight in order to appreciate the trappings of your new special friend.

Quiero Queso -- I agree wholeheartedly with Jack on this one. Ever wonder why the divorce rate is 50% and growing? I sure as hell know I do. Maybe in the days of old when the average human only traveled 4 miles from their nest and the law of attraction was based on convenience, would settling down with an imperfect mate even remotely make sense. Today, we can date around without being cast out of our society, we have every sort of modern convenience at our disposal, we can travel across the world, we can even “meet” “people” through a computer screen – your selection is infinite! I’m not trying to discredit the forces behind your relationship but I am warning against subscribing to a cookie cutter idea of happiness without first being very, very sure that the cookie cutter is the EXACT PERFECT SHAPE! Sure, everyone loves chocolate chip cookies, maybe even for six fruitful years. But if those chips mess up the true shape of your desired cookie…then even though you enjoy it… don’t feel pressured to order only that cookie for your whole life. If however, you are certain you’re a one cookie kinda guy, and this is your confection of choice, then just be yourself! If you want your cookie with milk one day and with a tuna fish sandwich the next, don’t feel weird about that. Variety is the spice of life. If you feel like picking flowers isn’t for you - pick her a Richmond brick. Being yourself is the ultimate way to not only really meaningfully connect with someone, but it also clues you in to how they will receive you –the real you- years down the line. Screw rose petals. Make your own love.

Don't worry Piet, I like "Jack Cheerleaders". However, I had more of a petite, yet somewhat voluptuous blonde in mind for my cheerleading squad. I guess you'll do for now though.

Sara- See I can actually give somewhat decent advice when I'm two or three days sober.

Ridor- reaping some oats...that's what it's all about.

Not to be a Jack 'cheerleader' but he brings up a good point when he questions the guy who's been with the chick for six years. What's holding up the marriage here?.... I'll tell you. He's bored, has lost interest and would probably move on but he's stuck in the inertia of the relationship. Change can be scary and sometimes if you're just comfortable enough you won't try to move on to find something better.

If he sticks it out and finally marries her I predict a series of middle aged affairs with a messy divorce leaving him sitting there wondering how he wasted his youth by settling.

Age smage. If you have feelings for someone it doesn't matter about the past, or your experiences. Run with those feelings until they're gone. Being in a relationship is just as much of an experience as "sowing your oats" with random bar girls.

When I first read that this guy was married in his twenties, I had a brief flashback of the wedding visit I made to ... Jacksonville, Illinois. A tiny town of 18K with cornfields surrounding it -- ready to swallow the town.

My friend needs to get a last-minute supply at the local Walmart store so we entered the premise, I was stunned to see SO MANY young couples having 2 or 3 kids and they were not even in thirties!

I love to observe people. I observed these many men and read their faces -- they were literally and figuratively trapped and their faces screamed like, "Set me free!"

It was quite mesmerizing and yet, so sad.

I agreed with Jack even if he made some hilarious crude remarks but that s just that -- just crude remarks but as usual, Jack nailed it -- sow your oats, Ross and when you're ready, you can start reaping your oats. Just like me and Jack ...

When I first read that this guy was married in his twenties, I had a brief flashback of the wedding visit I made to … Jacksonville, Illinois. A tiny town of 18K with cornfields surrounding it — ready to swallow the town.

My friend needs to get a last-minute supply at the local Walmart store so we entered the premise, I was stunned to see SO MANY young couples having 2 or 3 kids and they were not even in thirties!

I love to observe people. I observed these many men and read their faces — they were literally and figuratively trapped and their faces screamed like, “Set me free!”

It was quite mesmerizing and yet, so sad.

I agreed with Jack even if he made some hilarious crude remarks but that s just that — just crude remarks but as usual, Jack nailed it — sow your oats, Ross and when you’re ready, you can start reaping your oats. Just like me and Jack …
