We all know what Independence Day is about: hamburgers and fireworks! But there’s also a ton of great events going on in the area. So check them out and keep the party going this July 4th.

Parham Road Parade and Festival

Enjoy the holiday a little early with the Parham Road Parade. The parade will feature the 392nd Army Band from Ft. Lee, along with a host of other groups from the Richmond area. It's a full day of events that shouldn't be missed.

Old Fashion Family Picnic and Ice Cream Social

Start your Independence Day with a picnic at the farmers market, where you can shop for your holiday feast while you enjoy ice cream and BBQ. You can even join the Spicy Divas in some line dancing to work up an appetite!

All American Celebration

Come along to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden for a red, white, and blue event. In the Children's Garden, all participants are invited to come wearing the country's colors, and will have materials provided to decorate strollers and such to fit the holiday.

I Know Richmond Bus Tour

Independence Day is about remembering how we got to where we are today, so it's fitting that the Valentine Richmond History Center is offering a bus tour that takes a look at Richmond's history. The tour drives by St. John's Church, Hollywood Cemetery, Main Street Station, the Jefferson Hotel, and the Museum of the Confederacy. Tour the State Capitol, walk Capitol Square, and see the Civil Rights Memorial!

July 4th • 10am - 1pm

$25 per person, $20 if you are a member of the History Center

St. John's Church Reenactments

Come on Independence Day to see a reenactment of the Second Virginia Convention. The event is held at the same location as it was in March 1775: St. John’s Church. Professional actors dressed in period clothing will portray famous historic figures like Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington while they debate the question of independence from the British.

Brewdependence Day

Celebrate the holiday with the Hardywood Park Brewery. This event will feature live music, food, and the release of their new beer Hardywood SB 604, an American-style special bitter served in commemorative handled mason jar..

Flying Squirrels Game

Show your support for the National Pastime this July 4th by going to see your local baseball team. There's a special Independence Day fireworks show at the end of each game.

King's Dominion Military Days

Go to King's Dominion this July 4th to celebrate the men and women serving our country. Free admission for past and present personnel, along with all the great things Kings Dominion has to offer. Other details about the event TBD.

Racing to the Stars and Stripes

Colonial Downs presents an evening of horse racing, live music, and fireworks this Independence Day. There's lots going on, so don't miss out on this event.
