Its not always easy to bridge the cultural divides, but the effort is usually very worthwhile. Going back to some of your previous essays, Jamaica developed its own sound because local concert and radio promoters saw the long term financial value in doing so AND spreading it outside their usual audiences. When I hosted Locals Only (all local music) on WRIR, I tried to mix it up. Its not always easy to bridge the cultural divides, but the effort is usually very worthwhile.
