Henrico Police officer recognized for simple act of kindness

Officer Bolland bought toys for two children without any of their own.

Henrico Police recognized one of their own on Facebook this week following a simple act of kindness.

Officer Bolland recently responded to a Henrico residence for a service call, where he bonded with two siblings, 6 and 7 years of age, before realizing they had no toys of their own.

From Facebook:

The boys quickly bonded with Officer Bolland as he showed them his police gear. When Officer Bolland realized the boys had no toys to play with, they improvised by folding socks into a ball and throwing the “ball” to each other.

Days later, while still thinking about the boys, Officer Bolland purchased toys for them with his own money along with a generous donation from the Henrico Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #4. The boys were elated, and we think they will be longtime friends with Officer Bolland.

With so many negative police stories in the headlines as of late, it’s important to recognize the good work of the vast majority of police officers in our community who serve the public and go beyond the call of duty each and every day.

We commend you, Officer Bolland.
