Everyone is in a tizzy about the spectacular performance happening nightly in Shockoe Bottom as thousands of Purple Martins engage in aerial acrobatics. Driving down Lakeside Avenue just north of Dumbarton around 8:00pm tonight, we saw a slightly less fantastical swarm of the bird swooping and diving along the treeline.
