Downtown Doubletree closes for renovations

Plan is to reopen in 2016.

In September it is expected that every hotel room in the area will be packed with those going to The Big Bike Race™.  Those fans of the bicycle arts will have around 200 less options this fall as the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Richmond Downtown (301 W. Franklin Street) closed Monday for renovations.  It is expected to reopen in 2016 under the name Graduate Richmond and will have 200 rooms.

Richmond.com has more details.

Graduate Hotels are part of a new collection of hotels targeting university-anchored markets across the country that celebrate each town’s culture and history.

That sounds great but what it means is that every interior space will be renovated including the common areas, rooms, and conference rooms. The changes don’t stop there though.

Guests can expect food and beverage offerings, including a coffee shop, and transformed roof and pool deck. Other amenities will include an enlarged fitness center, valet parking, and meeting and event spaces for leisure and business travelers.
