Rebuilding Together to repair 1,000th home in Church Hill

Councilwoman Cynthia Newbille has invited the East End Community to attend.

Rebuilding Together Richmond, a local affiliate of the national organization, will be completing their 1,000th repair in Church Hill. Cynthia Newbille, the Councilwoman from the 7th voter District, has invited members of the community to witness this milestone on Sunday, April 26 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The scheduled repair on the 1,000th home will be just one of 40 homes that receive modifications and updates that day. The event will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 3300 R. Street. According to Newbille’s press release:

The 2014 Richmond Rebuilding Day is part of a national event. A tremendous undertaking, the annual success of this work locally represents thousands of hours organizing logistics; soliciting and reviewing applications; coordinating funding and supplies; providing public information and communications; coordinating and managing thousands of community volunteers; and, requiring months of preparatory skilled trades work.

Elderly individuals, individuals with disabilities, and those with low-incomes can qualify for Rebuilding Together projects. According to the Rebuilding Together FAQ, the list of repair services offered includes:

carpentry, plumbing, electrical, roofing, painting, glazing, weather-stripping, grab bars, ADA wheelchair ramps, trash removal, cleaning and much, much more.
