Tiny humans: An unconference about parenting

Do you have/plan to have/know/love a tiny human (AKA “a child”)? This unconference is for you.

The folks responsible for Bill (Wren Lanier and our own Sam Davies) are fixing to be awesome again with a new event continuing the exploration of the “unconference” series’s guiding principle of “Ideas are easy, making things is hard.” But this time they’re focusing on kids–specifically the challenges, fear, and excitement that goes along with raising kids.

Tiny humans: an unconference about parenting is for anyone who spends time (or has spent time or plans to spend time) raising children. Following Bill’s usual format, this informal event gives anyone a chance to present. There will be five to six presenter slots available, and each slot is 10 to 15 minutes each. As the event website explains, “There’s no need for Powerpoint slides or dioramas. You can talk about something you’ve learned or a challenge you’ve faced raising children. You can also lead a discussion, or pose a question that you’d like other people in the room to answer.” Simple, casual, no fuss–that’s just how Bill rolls.

To encourage total family participation, Bill is offering two sessions of tiny humans–you know, so no one has to miss out because he or she had to stay home with the kids. The first event is on Monday, July 8th, the second one week later on July 15th. Both will take place at 804RVA from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and both will include light refreshments from Garnett’s.

Tickets are $10 (processing fees do apply) and can be purchased here and here. And as you’re doing that, be sure to check out their Frequently Asked Questions–they’re super helpful in letting you know what to expect from tiny humans. I mean, the event, not actual tiny humans. If you’re not sure what to expect from actual tiny humans, well, all the more reason to come by and join us for a chat.
