Anoushka Shankar cancels Richmond concert

The sitarist and daughter of Ravi Shankar has canceled her Richmond appearance due to medical issues.

The Richmond Symphony has announced that the Musical Crossroads concert featuring Anoushka Shankar, a sitar player and daughter of Ravi Shankar, has been cancelled because of the sitarist’s health concerns. Her performance was scheduled for Saturday, April 26th at 7:00 PM at The Carpenter Theater.

Here’s the statement from The Richmond Symphony:

Due to health concerns, and with deep regret, Anoushka Shankar has had to cancel her appearances with the Richmond Symphony for the week of 21 April. Ms. Shankar hopes she will have an opportunity in a future season to perform with the Richmond Symphony and present her father’s Concerto No. 3 for the wonderful audience of Richmond, Virginia.
