2014 RVA Mural Project begins

Here’s where the next set of murals will go up over the next two weeks.

At least 10 top muralists from across the world (see sidebar) will create 19 new murals around the city (see map below) during the third installment of the Richmond Mural Project, which begins today and runs through June 27th.

Owner of DC-based art gallery Art Whino, Shane Pomajambo, launched the project in 2012 with the goal of painting 100 murals across Richmond over five years. According to the organizer’s total, artists have painted 68 murals in three years. Last year, BuzzFeed ranked Etam Cru’s mural among the Best Street Art in The World 2013. Here’s a video highlighting the murals created last year.

Organizers raised met their $6,000 Kickstarter goal to fund the travel expenses of this year’s artists.
