Adding your event to the RVANews calendar

The RVANews calendar is powered by Upcoming, a free service managed by Yahoo!

The easiest (and quickest!) way for you to get your event added to our calendar is for you to head on over to Upcoming, join our group called RVANews – The Rail (Top Shelf access is reserved for RVANews staff) and enter the details yourself.

Here’s a quick-and-dirty tutorial for getting started with Upcoming:

• Go to the Upcoming site.
• If you already have a Yahoo! account, click on “Sign in” in the top lefthand corner. If you are new to Yahoo! you’ll need to create an account.
• Once you’ve signed in or created your account, click on My Events and select My Groups.
• In the Search Groups box, enter RVANews – The Rail.
• Click on the RVANews – The Rail link.
• Click Join This Group.
• Now that you’ve joined the group, click on Add An Event in the top navigation.
• Fill out the event form. Be sure to include links to your event’s homepage and where to buy tickets online if applicable. (Also, the event description box does support HTML, so you can embed links there, too.)
• One tip: You must indicate how much tickets cost. If you don’t, Upcoming will automatically list them as free. You don’t want people showing up to your event thinking it’s free when it’s not.
• Preview and add the event.
• You’ll then have the option of sending the event to a group. Click on the drop down menu and select RVANews – The Rail.
• Done and done!

Now that you’re a member of RVANews – The Rail on Upcoming, the next time you sign in, just fill in the information about your event, submit it, and send it straight on to us.
