Robert Bruce Banner was the son of Dr. Brian Banner, an atomic scientist, and his wife Rebecca. Although Rebecca deeply loved Bruce, who returned her affection, Brian hated the child. An alcoholic with a passion for 80’s hair metal & Sarah Palin, Brian Banner was driven by an insane jealousy of Bruce for being an object of Rebecca’s love. Brian Banner finally murdered Rebecca and was placed in a mental hospital. Bruce, a highly withdrawn, intellectual youth, was raised by his aunt, Mrs. Drake, and internalized his great pain and rage over his childhood sufferings. This early period in David Banner’s life is represented first with the blissful serenity of Italian composer Nina Rota that was his life before his mother’s murder. Dez Cadena era Black Flag symbolizes his life after it.
Eventually, as an adult and a genius in nuclear physics, Banner went to work at a United States Defense Department nuclear research facility at Desert Base, New Mexico. There Banner met General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross, the Air Force officer in command of the base, and his daughter Betty whose love of Colombian cumbia music (represented on this podcast with a track by The Juaneco Y Su Combo) was well known to everyone on the base. Banner and Betty Ross eventually fell in love with each other listening to the music of Buddy Holly, Nora Dean and Chantal Goya during their courtship. During this time, Banner designed and oversaw construction of the “gamma bomb” or “G-bomb,” a nuclear weapon that had a high gamma radiation output. The project was dubbed, “Hello Trouble” by General Ross after he and his wife saw Buck Owens perform in Albuquerque.
Banner was present in the instrumentation bunker at the test site for the first underground test detonation of the gamma bomb. Observing that a civilian (an Indian immigrant that came to the US seeking fame and fortune after appearing in the Bollywood film, “Bole To Baansuri”) had breached security and entered the restricted test area, Banner told his colleague Igor Starsky to delay the countdown while he tried to get the civilian to safety. Starsky, secretly a Soviet agent who listened to nothing but classic rock radio, did nothing, confident that Banner would die in the explosion, bringing the project to a halt. Reaching the civilian, Banner threw him into a protective trench. Before Banner could get himself to safety, the gamma-bomb detonated like a Squarepusher tune, and intense waves of radiation reached the surface. Banner was irradiated with highly charged, radioactive particles. Due to an unknown genetic factor in his body, Banner was not killed by the radiation, which instead caused him to transform into the vastly powerful, green-skinned creature named “The Hulk” by the military present at the test site. Many felt the creature was the spawn of something that had come from south of heaven.
After the exposure and his presumed death, Banner worked secretly in his lab to reverse his condition. While working on a possible cure late one night, an accident caused the lab to catch fire and unknown to Banner, his beloved Betty was trapped in the burning building. Traumatized, Banner transformed into the Hulk in a desperate attempt to save his sweetheart but it was too late. She was dead and when witnesses saw the Hulk carrying her lifeless body from the blaze, the creature was blamed for her death. The television show, “Law And Order” used these accounts as a basis for an episode that dealt with rage murders.
At first Banner changed into the Hulk at sunset and reverted to human form at dawn. However, Banner’s body eventually changed so that his transformations into the Hulk were triggered by the release of adrenaline when he became intensely excited, no matter what time of day or night it was. He felt that listening to The Famous Blue Jay Singers Of Birmingham, Alabama helped him to control the creature’s outbursts. Usually the Hulk possessed little of Banner’s memory and intelligence and was easily enraged especially when he heard Nigerian hip hop, 1970’s Thai pop or Little Rascals music. Hence, the Hulk was a menace, a smallpox champion continually hunted by military forces commanded by the implacable General Ross. For awhile Banner managed to maintain enough of his own personality that when he became the Hulk he could control himself in that form but it didn’t last. No matter how hard he tried the Hulk would eventually lose Banner’s intelligence and became a brutish menace. Because of these uncontrollable outbursts, Banner became a man constantly on the move.
Several years later, Banner went to visit his beloved cousin Jennifer Walters, a Los Angeles based lawyer, who lived in a house full of girls just outside of Hollywood. It was one of the rare times that Banner allowed himself to indulge in female company since he started becoming the Hulk. It was also the last. On that fateful night, Banner had put on a Huey ‘Piano’ Smith And His Clowns CD thinking he had the beast under his control. He had told himself this before, but this time was different. He was convinced the days of the Hulk were over. Just then, one of Jennifer’s roommates abruptly changed the music and put on, “Roses” by Outkast. The jarring change startled Banner and he became enraged. He had always hated when people changed his music, but since becoming the Hulk, minor annoyances of the past now made him see red. Banner doesn’t remember much after that point and that is probably for the best. Nobody would want to remember things like that.
So now he must run. The creature is wanted for a murder he didn’t commit. David Banner is believed to be dead, and he must let the world think that he is dead, until he can find a way to control the raging spirit that dwells within him.

Just got back from the Sarah Palin rally (not kidding). God lord, that was funny. Hank Williams Jr. did the single worst rendition of, “God Bless America” I have ever heard. As bad as that was, it was infinitely more appealing than anything Palin had to say. It was everything she has said before only with, “Richmond”, and “Virginia” added to distinguish it from her other stump speeches.
The whole event was more like going to a fan club meeting than a political rally. One kid was carrying a sign that said, “I’m voting for the chick” and he was getting high fives from everyone and posing for pictures as his mother looked on approvingly. Awesome. I overheard at least ten dudes as I was walking through the crowd saying how much they wanted to drill Palin. “Man, I’d f%#@k her all night” was the sentiment I heard most. Now I know why they all get so excited when they chant, “Drill, Baby, Drill”. They all want to f%@k her even the women. I heard several women remark about how beautiful they thought she was and all the female comments I heard had more to do with her appearance and her fashion choices than her actual politics. “She just always looks great, “one elderly woman told me who wore a pink blouse covered with Palin buttons and stickers, “she is exactly what this country needs.” Her daughter added that, “Palin is a mom and she understands how things work”. With that, I just smiled and walked away.
The whole event just seemed really sad to me. The people who support her aren’t stupid or evil; they are just people who want to believe that the America is always right and always winning. When I engaged people in conversation, I just let them talk because I genuinely wanted to hear what they had to say. And that’s where the sadness comes in. It just seemed that the people I talked to had a desperate need to hear what they wanted to hear regardless if it was true or not. They needed conformation that they were good people fighting the good fight and Palin said everything to placate that need. All political rallies are placation events, but this one used platitudes like medication. Her folksy voice and catch phases sedated the masses more than they inspired them. It all seemed rather depressing. People began leaving in droves after Palin talked for about 10 minutes. The excitement was over.

3. Immy Grint says:
you should stick to women you can get like Hillary, when you hear her speak you can get all excited for hours. You should go to Obama’s church, you could hear some uplifting things about America, Im sure rev. wright is more your type. Or go have a conversation with Bill Ayers about how communist slavery is better than capitalist freedom. I’m sure youd find these a-holes really punky and smart and uplifting. Youre a moron, how could you be so blind and dumb? drugs

i know how to get you excited..Nancy Pelosi is giving a 3 hour speech on tv

6. bopst says:
at least the emphasis during a Pelosi speech would be on what she has to say instead of the way she looks when she says it…

7. Liberty says:
so what zzzzz, i like fashion. maybe if you had some style you would understand. Do you think Pelosi has the same plastic surgeon as michael jackson? btw- the Itals kicked butt at folk fest, it was great roots reggae, the bass and beat were world class and the singer kevin Porter had a real sweet stage presence, and all the band members had on real nice rastafarrian threads and dreads. Guess what some young kids thought it was a good time to fire up a spliff and all of a sudden the lights went up and someone got busted, but then the show went on. what shows did you see that you thought were good?
on October 13th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
8. bopst says:
Yeah, that is pretty stupid. The only thing I didn’t like about the Itals was the keyboard sound. Ouch…
My favorite show of the festival was Vieux Farka Toure. He’s no Julian Lennon that’s for sure. Others that were great were Dale Watson, The San Taiko and Nukarik.
Can’t wait for next year…

9. Liberty says:
Yeah i was lookin around for the Itals horn section, i figure they didnt have the budget to bring the horns with them but i thought the keyboard player was great and he played with alot of feeling. I hated to see the festival end. In Utopia theres a folk festival everyday.
Did you know rastafarians smoke weed as part of their religion so in a way they are religiously prosequted in our country, this irritates me or IREtates me. They say smokein the ganja enables them to be closer to god. Whats your thoughts?
