Ever since I saw Fight Club years ago, I have often asked myself when confronted with the reams of puzzling evidence that modern culture bombards us with, “What would Tyler Durden do?”. Thankfully, I was not alone…

What Would Tyler Durden Do?

Seeing as blowing up buildings, vandalism and general anti-social behavior can lead to incarceration, the next best way to carry on the teachings of the beloved fictional character portrayed by Brad Pitt is to mock and belittle the establishment that has made Britney Spears and her corporate whore brethren household names on the glorious internet. Sure, everyone with a chip on their shoulders does it, but few have the acidic wit and unfretted access to Hollywood as this verbally vicious, take no prisoners webmaster. Check out this recent post concerning Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s recent bundle of joy.

“Wow, kudos to Ben Affleck. He’s very brave. I’m sure she’s a charming little girl but if I had given birth to that goblin I would have called it quits right there. A thousand years ago if you gave birth to something that looked like that the church would chop your penis off and burn it.”

And that’s one of the nicer things he has posted. The site’s heroically snide observations and unflattering imagery are the perfect antidote to a world still hopelessly enamored with media celebrity. His juicy insider tidbits from the land of make believe are always succulent reading. Concerning Jennifer Lopez and her desire to dress her twins is nothing but new designer clothes on a daily basis, our hero had this to say:

“If karma were at all real, and not just a fantasy based on fairies and pixies and dancing candy canes, JLo would get smoosh’d by a comet today, or at the very least pinned to a tree by a car. Fuck that uppity cunt. She can afford new legs.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself. The site is updated frequently and should be added to your daily web surfing stops if you need a little pick me up. God knows, it always makes me feel better.

How you feel about, “What Would Tyler Durden Do?” is a good barometer about how you’ll feel hearing this week’s installment of the Bopst Show. After my wife listened to this week’s show, she came downstairs and asked, “Are they going to let you post those songs?” I could tell that she was genuinely worried. I guess if you are reading these words, the fine folks that run this site are true to their word in letting me present music to you without restriction. To be honest, I didn’t really even think there was that much questionable content in this week’s show, but after I saw the look on my wife’s face and heard the concern in her voice, I began to realize that it is chock full of possibly unsettling musical moments (especially the last tune by Jon Lajoie). I debated scrapping the whole thing and starting anew, but then I asked myself, “What would Tyler Durden do?” and smiled. The show was perfect as is.

Of coarse, that is for me to believe and for you to decide.

The set list for this week’s show is posted on my MySpace page. Previous show set lists are on my blog.

The show just got an audio review. I think I’ll have to cut it up for a future episode. It begs for it…

    Chris,

Do you have any recordings of folks calling and complaining about your show?

Request: Kingbee’s from Detroit, I think.

    Cheers.

That last song was something. Not sure what, but it’s something.

That said, keep ‘em coming. “Short, sharp, shock”s to the mind are always interesting. Now, where is that Lysol. I need to clean up. And maybe some Bactine. : )

I only watched a bit of “Fight Club”, seemed homo-erotic. Speakin of musical delivery systems, one must conclude that live music is the best. I say this because a real flower is better than a painting of one. Also FM better than AM, and webcast/podcast better than AM.

Got something to say?
