Style Weekly, sometimes you kill me

I am delighted by the Hipster’s Dilemma. It comes with a handy chart at which I just snorted aloud whilst reading. Way to keep your finger on the pulse, Style. I know tons of hipsters who are actually tearing their hair out trying to be in two places at once. Why didn’t we think of this??

    We had a good chuckle about that last night when I read it, but somehow it made me want to see either show less. But, Live/Gin Blossoms at Innsbrook? Anyone? Heh?

    While Richmond does suffer from a glut of douchebag hipsters, I’d like to point out that artists from independent labels are no longer the exclusive domain of neck-bearded, scarf-wearing record store employees (with their ironic t-shirts, stupid hats, bed-head haircuts, Argyle sweaters, and homemade bicycles).

    The popularity of these two groups is significant and deserved, and shouldn’t be undermined by these stereotypes of their fans. Just take a look at the crowd that actually shows up. The tickets are pretty expensive when you add in the fees, and most of our local hipsters will probably have to wait tables or perform with their noise project that night anyway.

    Oh my god. Live? With the GIN BLOSSOMS?! I’m so there.

    I would have killed to go to that show in 1997. 11 years isn’t too late.

    I once bought a Gin Blossoms cd at a record store that was closing down in Va Beach. Guess how much I paid? 50 CENTS for a brand new cd. Even better, it was the album with Hey Jealousy on it. I don’t know what else was on it, because that was the only song I was interested in. If only I could travel back in time to sell it outside Sam Goody for $15…

    GD Pearl Jam is, according to Kelly, something like 69 Dollars. It might as well be my memories of a wonderful adolescence! Plus, it’s ticket master, so tack on my first born.

    Sheesh.

    The Iron & Wine show was awesome. What a sound system that place has! And as predicted, very few hipsters of any variety were in attendance.
